hen I was a young girl we always had toy poodles at home and I always wanted a larger breed dog.
When I set up home myself I owned a few large breeds my first dog was a Doberman , then I had a Boxer and a few Mastiff breeds, my favourite being my beloved Bullmastiff who I did obedience with . When he passed away I knew I couldnt be without a dog in my life for long! My mind kept going back to a breed of dog that i was in awe of and had admired for many years .......The Rottweiler
I became interested in showing at this point with the Rottweilers , but sadly it was out of the question, I had very young children and worked most weekends and i wasnt about to drag all the children along to the shows which can be miles away !
In the years that followed I owned many more Rottweilers, and my husband owned bulldogs and a french bulldog who were all from excellent lines but didnt make the showring , they were pets first and foremost. It had been a good 12 years of owning Rottweilers before I began showing and exhibiting .
There have been so many ups and downs along the way , there will be many more , that is a choice you make when you decide to show your dogs and only keep what you consider to be the best of the best of what you can breed .
Not all dogs enjoy the travelling and exhibiting and thus dont make good show prospects And not many dogs will meet the correct high standard required for the showring so these dogs although great companion dogs do not represent the strict breed standard and there fore cant be shown. These dogs make wonderful companions however but you do need to beable to let them be rehomed or sell promising pups because you cant keep them all and its better to do the best for the dog rather than what you consider the best for yourself! The aim of all good breeders and exhibitors is to breed and show to the highest standard.
I have bred my first champion in the Rottweiler breed - Champion Dominatus Fire And Ice JW and serveral dogs ive bred have won RCC ;s . I dont show or breed Rottweilers anymore , due to various changes in personal circumstances but I do however still enjoy showing french bulldogs , this is however not my only hobby as it can take over your life and effect you financially and emotionally !! Enjoying the hobby and making sure the dogs enjoy it and are happy to do so is the number one priorty.
